Praying for our Leadership.

To be a church leader is a demanding commitment. Paul lays out to Timothy some of the requirements for being both an elder and a deacon. The criteria is pretty high. What tops the list though is the relationship that a church leader has with his family.

  1. Be FAITHFUL to his wife. Being at the top of the list I believe that this one needs to be taken more serious than any others. The relationship that we have with our wives shows the relationship that we have with our Church. Ephesians 5:25 emphasizes the point even more. Love you wife like Christ loves the church.
  2. Make sure that your children RESPECT you. For me my desire is that my kids know Christ through me but in that they live life where they are a shining light for him. Often however I struggle finding the fine line between being their friends, having them respect me and then I am also reminded of Ephesians 6:4 and Colossians 3:21. It is a balancing act trying to raise kids, finding a comfortable place between each of these if not easy.

Church…..pray for your leaders….but also remind yourself that you are a leader within the church. Each of us needs to find a place where God calls us to lead something….pray that you continue to discover that calling.
