A chapter about money, sex and hell. Jesus was no slick salesman or shy saviour. It’s striking how Lazarus gets a name in the story and the rich man doesn’t. His riches were his identity. No doubt he was a good Jew and went to the temple and synagogue but unbeknownst to him and his friends, his real god was his money and his comfort in this life. We are no longer under law, but how we use our money and our sexuality (and our other gifts) is closely watched and crucial. Use your wealth and you have in this life for eternal purposes. Don’t let them use you with eternal consequences.
