I have to admit, there are times when I am reading Romans that I have to set down the NLT or NIV and pick up the Message to find out how Eugene Peterson translates a portion of the scripture into his own words. Today was one of those days.

I was also reminded of a time that I walked youth through this book. Before doing so someone explained with skepticism how difficult it would be to help youth understand the complexities of what Paul was trying to say. In reply my thought and hope was that as we read Romans we discover the nuggets of Gold hidden in the depth of the scripture. Romans 3:23 is one of those and it might just sum up much of the chapter.

I love how Eugene Peterson titles the section Romans 3:9-20….”WE’RE ALL IN THE SAME SINKING BOAT.” No of us is any better then the rest of us. We have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. Thank GOD for the sacrifice of Jesus, whom, through faith in HIM, is the only way to being made right with God.
