I wonder if God often uses the statement, “Hey Check this out.” In a situation like the tower of Babel God must have found some sort of enjoyment in the chaos that ensued after everyone started speaking all kinds of different languages. It must have been quite the scene as one minute mankind is making progress toward accomplishing a goal and the next minute they have no idea what each of them are trying to say.
It reminds me of the Woody Allen quote, “You want to make God laugh….tell Him your plans.”
Personally I find myself quite often in a situation where I am trying to do something that God had no intention of me doing. As I read this chapter I was reminded of all the times I found myself confused about things I was trying to do. Come to think of it, maybe that confusion is just God trying to get me back on track. There are times where we have to begin to look at the direction we are going and ask ourselves the question; “Is this taking me where God wants me, or just where others want me to go?”
Maybe being confused is a good thing…maybe it is just a reminder to us that God is in control. When confusion does come, my suggestion is that we take time to evaluate and find God in the chaos.
Although God may bring confusion, he has a plan to direct you toward HIM. “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.” 1 Corinthians 14:33
